Abstract

The aim of this study was to determine the effect of learning resource utilization on the academic achievement of Biology students in secondary schools in Abak Local Government Area of Akwa Ibom State. Two hypotheses were formulated to guide the study. A quasi-experimental research design was adopted in the study. Two thousand six hundred and eighty-seven (2,687) SS2 Biology students formed the sample size. Biology student Achievement Test (BAT)  was the major instrument for data collection in the study.

Results showed that students taught with learning resources utilization perform academically better than those taught without learning resources utilization. It also revealed that when learning resources utilization is applied in the teaching-learning process, students learn at the same rate irrespective of gender. Based on these findings, it is recommended that there is a need for the Government to build more learning resources center in our secondary schools in order to record high academic performance.
