 Abstract

This study was conducted to determine the influence of Classroom Communication Styles on Academic Performance of Secondary School Students in Eket Local Government Area. Three objectives were formulated with three hypotheses to guide the study.  The population of the study consisted of 460 Business Studies students in 12 public secondary school in the area. A sample size of 160 Business Studies students were randomly selected from 8 schools for the study.  The survey research design was used for the study and achievement test was the instrument for data collection title “Business Studies Achievement Test (BSAT).” The data used for the study were analyzed using t-test statistical technique. 

The result of the data revealed that teachers with effective verbal communication style in the classroom have a significant influence on their students’ academic performance, while teachers wrote communication styles and teachers non-verbal communication style in the classroom has no significant influence on the academic performance of secondary school students in Eket Local Government Area.
